Abstract

Systems are provided to enable users of a streaming media playback system to access play-lists generated automatically based on input of a plurality of users regarding previously played media resources, and to provide user input regarding the media resources of the play-lists. The user input regarding media resources may be received from a plurality of users using a plurality of playback interfaces executing on a plurality of internet enabled multimedia computing platforms. A rating component determines rating information from the user inputs provided by the plurality of users and modifies the rating information in an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources. The system further includes a play-list generator adapted to generate and store or dynamically generate at least one play-list at least based on the rating information in the organizational data structure.

Claims

1. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to playback streaming media and to receive a rating, the playback interface including;

a media player adapted to play media resources being delivered over the Internet from one or more remote servers, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface, and signal, via the Internet, the rating to a rating selection component; and

a rating system including;

a database management component that maintains an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources, and

the rating selection component adapted to receive, via the Internet, the rating from the streaming media clips rating system and modify the rating information in the organizational data structure at least based on the rating; and

a play-list generator adapted to generate and store at least one play-list based on the rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least one or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

2. The system of claim 1,

wherein the playback interface is further adapted to receive a plurality of ratings from a plurality of users, with the play-list being generated based on the plurality of ratings.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the rating selection component is further adapted to receive the plurality of ratings and to tally the plurality of ratings for one or more streaming media clips.

4. The system of claim 2, wherein the plurality of ratings are received from a respective plurality of web-based playback interfaces.

5. The system of claim 2, wherein the play-list generator organizes a plurality of streaming media clips based on the plurality of ratings.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the web-based playback interface executing on the internet enabled multimedia computing platform displays the streaming media clips according to an order.

7. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources delivered over the Internet from a remote server,

receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface, and

signal the rating to a rating component; and

the rating component adapted to;

receive the rating,

associate the rating with a media resource,

store data related to one or more ratings for one or more media resources; and

a play-list generator adapted to generate and store at least one play-list based on rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least one or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

8. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources provided by a web or streaming server;

receive a rating; and

signal the rating to a rating component; and

the rating component adapted to;

receive the rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface,

associate the rating with a media resource,

store data related to one or more ratings for one or more media resources; and

a play-list generator adapted to generate and store at least one play-list based on rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least one or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

9. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform including;

a media player adapted to play media resources being delivered over the internet from one or more remote servers, the playback interface being further adapted to receive user input regarding the media resources and signal, via the internet, the user input to a rating component; and

a rating system including;

a database management component that maintains an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources, and

the rating component adapted to receive, via the internet, the user input from the playback interface, to determine a rating from the user input, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure at least based on the rating, and

a play-list generator adapted to generate and store at least one play-list based on the rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least two or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

11. The system of claim 9, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

12. The system of claim 9, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive user input regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user input to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user inputs from the plurality of playback interfaces, to determine a plurality of ratings from at least some of the plurality of user inputs, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates and stores at least one play-list for at least one user based on the rating information.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein each respective playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature;

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

15. The system of claim 12, wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

16. The system of claim 12, wherein the user input is a selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information on at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

17. The system of claim 12, wherein the generated and stored play-list is provided over the internet to the playback interface and the provided play-list matches the selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information selected by the user on the playback interface.

18. The system of claim 12, wherein the generated and stored play-list is a new playlist created for a current genre or category, and wherein the new playlist replaces the previous playlist for that genre or category.

19. The system of claim 12, wherein a plurality of play-lists are generated and stored based on the rating information, and at least one stored playlist is provided to at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

20. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform including;

a media player adapted to play media resources being delivered over the Internet from one or more remote servers, the playback interface being further adapted to receive user input regarding the media resources, and signal, via the internet, the user input to a rating component; and

a rating system including;

a database management component that maintains an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources, and

the rating component adapted to receive, via the Internet, the user input from the playback interface, to determine a rating from the user input, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure at least based on the rating; and

a play-list generator adapted to dynamically generate at least one play-list at least based on the rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least two or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

22. The system of claim 20, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

23. The system of claim 20, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive user input regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user input to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user inputs from the plurality of playback interfaces, to determine a plurality of ratings from at least some of the plurality of user inputs, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user based on the rating information.

24. The system of claim 23, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

25. The system of claim 24, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

26. The system of claim 23, wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

27. The system of claim 23, wherein the user input is a selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information on at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

28. The system of claim 20, wherein the dynamically generated play-list starts playing automatically.

29. The system of claim 23, wherein titles corresponding to the identifiers of at least two media resources in the dynamically generated play-list are displayed in the playback interface.

30. A system comprising:

a playback interface installed and executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources being delivered over the Internet from one or more remote servers,

receive user input regarding the media resources, and

signal, via the internet, the user input to a rating component; and

a rating system including;

a database management component that maintains an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources, and

the rating component adapted to receive, via the internet, the user input from the playback interface, to determine a rating from the user input, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure at least based on the rating; and

a play-list generator adapted to generate and store at least one play-list based on the rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least two or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player and a plurality of titles corresponding to respective ones of the media resources are displayed on the playback interface.

31. The system of claim 30, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

32. The system of claim 30, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

33. The system of claim 30, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive user input regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user input to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user inputs from the plurality of playback interfaces, to determine a plurality of ratings from at least some of the plurality of user inputs, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates and stores at least one play-list for at least one user based on the rating information.

34. The system of claim 33, wherein each respective playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature;

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

35. The system of claim 34, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

36. The system of claim 33 wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

37. The system of claim 33, wherein the user input is a selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information on at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

38. The system of claim 33, wherein the generated and stored play-list is provided over the internet to the playback interface and the provided play-list matches the selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information selected by the user on the playback interface.

39. The system of claim 33, wherein the generated and stored play-list is a new playlist created for a current genre or category, and wherein the new playlist replaces the previous playlist for that genre or category.

40. The system of claim 33 where a plurality of play-lists are generated and stored based on the rating information, and at least one stored playlist is provided to at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

41. A system comprising:

a playback interface installed and executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources being delivered over the Internet from one or more remote server,

receive user input regarding the media resources, and

signal, via the internet, the user input to a rating component; and

a rating system including;

a database management component that maintains an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources, and

the rating component adapted to receive, via the internet, the user input from the playback interface, to determine a rating from the user input, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure at least based on the rating; and

a play-list generator adapted to dynamically generate at least one play-list based on the rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least two or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

42. The system of claim 41, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

43. The system of claim 41, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

44. The system of claim 41, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive user input regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user input to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user inputs from the plurality of playback interfaces, to determine a plurality of ratings from at least some of the plurality of user inputs, and to modify the rating information in the organizational data structure based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user based on the rating information.

45. The system of claim 44, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

46. The system of claim 45, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

47. The system of claim 44 wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

48. The system of claim 44, wherein the user input is a selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information on at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

49. The system of claim 41, wherein the dynamically generated play-list starts playing automatically.

50. The system of claim 44, wherein titles corresponding to the identifiers of at least two media resources in the dynamically generated play-list are displayed in the playback interface.

51. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources being provided by one or more web or streaming servers;

receive user input regarding the media resources; and

signal via the internet, the user input to a rating component; and

the rating component adapted to;

receive the user input when a user enters the user input by using one or more features of the playback interface,

determine a rating from the user input and associate the rating with a media resource,

store rating information related to one or more ratings for one or more media resources; and

a play-list generator adapted to generate and store at least one play-list based on the rating information, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least one or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

52. The system of claim 51, wherein the one or more features of the playback interface are of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

53. The system of claim 51, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

54. The system of claim 51, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive user input regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user input to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user inputs from the plurality of playback interfaces, to determine a plurality of ratings from at least some of the plurality of user inputs, and to modify the rating information based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates and stores at least one play-list for at least one user based on the rating information.

55. The system of claim 54, wherein the one or more features of the playback interface are of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

56. The system of claim 55, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

57. The system of claim 54, wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

58. The system of claim 54, wherein the user input is a selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information on at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

59. The system of claim 54, wherein the generated and stored play-list is provided over the internet to the playback interface and the provided play-list matches the selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information selected by the user on the playback interface.

60. The system of claim 54, wherein the generated and stored play-list is a new playlist created for a current genre or category, and wherein the new playlist replaces the previous playlist for that genre or category.

61. The system of claim 54 where a plurality of play-lists are generated and stored based on the rating information, and at least one stored playlist is provided to at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

62. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources being provided by one or more web or streaming servers;

receive user input regarding the media resources; and

signal via the internet, the user input to a rating component; and

the rating component adapted to;

receive the user input when a user enters the user input by using one or more features of the playback interface,

determine a rating from the user input and associate the rating with a media resource,

store rating information related to one or more ratings for one or more media resources; and

a play-list generator adapted to dynamically generate at least one play-list based on the rating information, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least one or more media resources selected based on the rating information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

63. The system of claim 62, wherein the one or more features of the playback interface are of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

64. The system of claim 62, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

65. The system of claim 62, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive user input regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user input to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user inputs from the plurality of playback interfaces, to determine a plurality of ratings from at least some of the plurality of user inputs, and to modify the rating information based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user based on the rating information.

66. The system of claim 65, wherein the one or more features of the playback interface are of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user input regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

67. The system of claim 66, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

68. The system of claim 65, wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

69. The system of claim 65, wherein the user input is a selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information on at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces.

70. The system of claim 62, wherein the dynamically generated play-list starts playing automatically.

71. The system of claim 65, wherein titles corresponding to the identifiers of at least two media resources in the dynamically generated play-list are displayed in the playback interface.

72. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to playback streaming media and to receive ratings, the playback interface including;

a media player adapted to play media resources being delivered over the Internet from one or more remote servers, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive ratings when respective users enter rating selections by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface, and signal, via the Internet, the ratings to a rating selection component; and

a rating system including;

a database management component that maintains an organizational data structure that describes rating information for the media resources, and

the rating selection component adapted to receive, via the Internet, the ratings from the streaming media clips rating system and modify the rating information in the organizational data structure at least based on the ratings; and

a play-list generator adapted to generate at least one play-list based on a compilation of the ratings information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least one or more media resources selected based on the ratings information, wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player.

73. The system of claim 72, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

The system of claim 72, wherein the compilation of the ratings information is tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the compilation of the ratings information.

75. The system of claim 72, at least some of a plurality of each respective playback interfaces are further adapted to receive a rating when a user selects one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information on the at least some of the plurality of playback interfaces, and signal, via the Internet, the rating to a rating selection component.

76. The system of claim 72, wherein the at least one playlist is generated dynamically and the play-list starts playing automatically.

77. The system of claim 72, wherein titles corresponding to the identifiers of at least two media resources in the at least one playlist are displayed in the playback interface.

78. The system of claim 72, wherein the at least one playlist is generated and stored and is provided over the internet to the playback interface and the provided play-list matches the selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information selected by the user on the playback interface.

79. The system of claim 72, wherein the at least one playlist is generated and stored and is a new playlist created for a current genre or category, and wherein the new playlist replaces the previous playlist for that genre or category.

80. The system of claim 72, where a plurality of play-lists are generated and stored based on the compilation of the ratings information, and at least one stored playlist is provided to at least some of a plurality of playback interfaces.

81. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources being provided by one or more web or streaming servers;

receive a user selection regarding one or more media resources; and

signal, via the internet, the user selection to a rating component; and

the rating component adapted to;

receive the user selection over the internet from the playback interface,

associate the user selection with rating information for one or more media resources,

store the rating information for one or more criteria for each of the one or more media resources in an organizational data structure; and

a play-list generator adapted to;

generate at least one play-list based on the rating information in the organizational data structure, wherein the play-list is generated at least based on at least one criteria in the rating information, and

wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least two or more media resources selected based on the at least one criteria,

wherein the media resources are capable of being played back on the media player, and

wherein the generated play-list is stored, and a title corresponding to the playlist name for the stored playlist is displayed on the playback interface.

82. The system of claim 81, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user selection regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

83. The system of claim 81, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

84. The system of claim 81, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive the user selection regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user selection to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user selections from the plurality of playback interfaces, to associate the plurality of user selections with a plurality of ratings, and to modify metadata information, including the rating information, in the organizational data structure based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates and stores at least one play-list for at least one user based on at least one criteria including at least one each of the metadata and the rating information.

85. The system of claim 84, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user selection regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

86. The system of claim 85, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

87. The system of claim 84 wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

88. The system of claim 84, wherein the metadata criteria used in generating the playlist includes one or more of a genre, category, mood, artist, or organizational information.

89. The system of claim 84, wherein the generated and stored play-list is provided over the internet to the playback interface, and

the provided play-list matches the selection by the user of the title corresponding to the playlist name on the playback interface, and

the selected title matches one or more of a genre, category, mood, artist, or organizational information.

90. The system of claim 84, wherein the generated and stored play-list is a new playlist created for a current genre or category, and wherein the new playlist replaces the previous playlist for that genre or category.

91. The system of claim 84, where a plurality of play-lists are generated and stored based on the rating information, and at least one stored playlist corresponding to one playlist name is provided to a plurality of the plurality of playback interfaces.

92. The system of claim 84, where a plurality of playlists are generated and stored based on the rating information, and where a plurality of the stored playlists are provided to the plurality of playback interfaces.

93. A system comprising:

a playback interface executing on an internet enabled multimedia computing platform adapted to;

play media resources being provided by one or more web or streaming servers;

receive a user selection regarding one or more media resources; and

signal, via the internet, the user selection to a rating component; and

the rating component adapted to;

receive the user selection over the internet from the playback interface,

associate the user selection with rating information for one or more media resources,

store the rating information for one or more criteria for each of the one or more media resources in an organizational data structure; and

a play-list generator adapted to;

dynamically generate at least one play-list at least based on at least one criteria in the rating information in the organizational data structure,

wherein the play-list comprises identifiers of at least two or more media resources selected based on the at least one criteria,

wherein the media resources are played back on the media player.

94. The system of claim 93, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user selection regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

95. The system of claim 93, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

96. The system of claim 93, wherein the system is further comprised of:

a plurality of playback interfaces wherein each respective playback interface is adapted to receive the user selection regarding media resources and signal, via the Internet, the user selection to the rating component; and

the rating component is adapted to receive the plurality of user selections from the plurality of playback interfaces, to associate the plurality of user selections with a plurality of ratings, and to modify metadata information, including the rating information, in the organizational data structure based on the plurality of ratings; and

the play-list generator generates and stores at least one play-list for at least one user based on at least one criteria including at least one each of the metadata and the rating information.

97. The system of claim 96, wherein the playback interface is further comprised of one or more of:

a play feature and a skip feature, and

a streaming media clips rating system adapted to receive a rating when a user enters a rating selection by using one or more of an icon or display feature of the playback interface; and

further wherein the user selection regarding the media resources includes at least the selection of one or more of a play feature, a skip feature, an icon, and a display feature.

98. The system of claim 97, wherein the play-list generator determines to include at least some of the identifiers of media resources in the at least one play-list at least based on a rating formula.

99. The system of claim 96, wherein at least some of the plurality of ratings are tallied at least based on a rating formula and the play-list generator generates at least one play-list for at least one user organized in an order at least based on the tally of the plurality of ratings.

100. The system of claim 93, wherein the user selection is the selection of one or more of a genre, category, or organizational information.

101. The system of claim 93, wherein the dynamically generated play-list starts playing automatically.

102. The system of claim 96, wherein titles corresponding to identifiers for at least two of the media resources in the dynamically generated play-list are displayed in the playback interface.
