1. A method of conducting sonochemical reactions or processes in a liquid comprising the steps of:

  • a. passing a liquid comprising an aqueous or organic liquid at static pressure P through a constriction of a device to form a liquid jet containing cavitation bubbles; and

    b. subjecting the cavitation bubbles in the liquid jet to a compressive stagnation pressure, Pst, wherein Pst is Pst=(0.5−

0.99)P, by colliding the cavitation bubbles with an impact target downstream of the constriction within 1 millisecond or less of the liquid exiting the constriction.
