1. A method for flexible plate fixation comprising:

  • positioning a bone plate across a bone fracture, the bone plate including a plurality of threaded receiving holes formed from a first material and a plurality of flexible elements formed from a second material different than the first material, wherein the flexible elements elastically suspend at least some of the receiving holes in the plate or provide a flexible connection between at least some of the receiving holes and the plate; and

    securing the bone plate with a plurality of fixation elements that rigidly connect at least first and second bone members to the receiving holes in the plate, the first and second bone members being located on opposing sides of the bone fracture, wherein the fixation elements include threaded heads that engage the threaded receiving holes when the bone plate is secured to the at least first and second bone members.
