1. A method for communicating product or service information to a potential purchaser, comprising:

  • scanning, using an application downloaded from a server to a smartphone of a first user, a product or an item describing a service to obtain both a product or service code and an advertisement promotion code, wherein the product or service code provides information about a product or service, and wherein the advertisement promotion code provides a monetary incentive for the first user to communicate the information about the product or service, wherein the application registers the first user with an advertiser code that uniquely identifies the first user;

    generating a barcode, using the application on the smartphone of the first user, by combining

         1) the product or service code,

         2) the advertisement promotion code, and

         3) the advertiser code of the first user, wherein

         1) the product or service code,

         2) the advertisement promotion code, and

         3) the advertiser code of the first user are encoded in the barcode; and

    communicating the barcode to a communication device of a second user that is the potential purchaser of the product or service using a network, using the application on the smartphone of the first user, wherein the communication device of the second user downloads a second application to receive the barcode, and wherein when the communication device of the second user is presented to a point of sale (POS) terminal, the POS terminalscans the barcode on the communication device of the second user,decodes, using the second application on the communication device of the second user, the barcode into

         1) the product or service code,

         2) the advertisement promotion code, and

         3) the advertiser code of the first user, andcompensates the first user identified by the advertiser code according to the incentive described in the advertisement promotion code, after the second user purchases the product or service.
