an electrolyte, an anodic organic electrochromic material, and a cathodic organic electrochromic material that are arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode,wherein the third electrode is electrically connectable to at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode via the electrolyte, andwherein the third electrode has an effective area that is larger than an effective area of the first electrode and an effective area of the second electrode.

the electrochromic element comprising: -
