1. A carotid septum ablation apparatus, comprising:

  • an elongate shaft, an expandable balloon secured to a distal region of the elongate shaft, a deployable arm adapted to branch from the elongate shaft and extend radially away from a longitudinal axis of the elongate shaft, the expandable balloon adapted to be in fluid communication with an inflation fluid source; and

an elongate member comprising a cryo-ablation member disposed at a distal end of the elongate member, the cryo-ablation member adapted to be in thermal communication with a cryo fluid source to apply thermal energy, the cryo fluid source and the inflation fluid source being different sources, wherein the elongate member and the elongate shaft are adapted so that the elongate member extends radially away from the longitudinal axis of the elongate shaft distal to where the deployable arm branches from the elongate shaft.
