via the engine controller,responsive to the global adaptation being a first global adaptation including the compressor surge line being advanced beyond an advance limit, indicating degradation of a compressor recirculation valve (CRV) the degradation of the CRV comprising a CRV opening being more than a desired CRV opening; and
responsive to the global adaptation being a second global adaptation including the compressor surge line being retarded beyond a retard limit, indicating degradation of the CRV, the degradation of the CRV comprising a CRV opening being less open than the desired CRV opening.

via the engine controller,responsive to the global adaptation being a first global adaptation including the compressor surge line being advanced beyond an advance limit, indicating degradation of a compressor recirculation valve (CRV) the degradation of the CRV comprising a CRV opening being more than a desired CRV opening; and responsive to the global adaptation being a second global adaptation including the compressor surge line being retarded beyond a retard limit indicating degradation of the CRV, the degradation of the CRV comprising the CRV opening being less open than the desired CRV opening, wherein globally adapting the surge line includes retarding the compressor surge line in response to a number of compressor surge events greater than a threshold number of compressor surge events, and advancing the compressor surge line in response to a number of tip-out events greater than a threshold number of tip-out events.
