1. A medical instrument for an endoscope to be used in the endoscope by being inserted therein, comprising:

  • a first flexible elongate sheath having a first lumen;

    a conductive wire which is inserted into the first lumen and of which a portion of a distal side is exposed to the outside of the sheath as an instrument unit;

    a second sheath into which the first sheath is inserted so as to advance and retreat in an axial direction; and

    a balloon which is attached to an outer circumference of a distal side of the second sheath and is expandable with the supply of fluid, and an outer diameter of the balloon is equal to or less than an outer diameter of a portion of the second sheath that is proximal to the balloon in an initial state of the balloon,wherein the balloon is configured such that an axial dimension thereof is larger than a radial dimension upon expansion,the second sheath is movable relative to the first sheath in a range from a position where a distal end of the balloon is superposed on the treatment unit to a position where the distal end of the balloon is located more proximal than a proximal end of the treatment unit by a predetermined distance,the first sheath has a distal portion at which the treatment unit is exposed, a proximal portion which is extended more proximal than the proximal end of the treatment unit, and a step which is formed between an outer circumference surface of the distal portion of the first sheath and an outer circumference surface of the proximal portion of the first sheath,the second sheath has a small-diameter portion which is formed with an inner diameter smaller than an outer diameter of the proximal portion of the first sheath, the balloon being attached to the outer circumference surface of the small-diameter portion of the second sheath, and a large-diameter portion which is formed with an inner diameter larger than an outer diameter of the proximal portion of the first sheath and is extended more proximal than a proximal end of the balloon, andthe second sheath is capable of being retracted until a proximal end of the small-diameter portion of the second sheath abuts to the step of the first sheath.
