1. A power conditioning unit for delivering power from a DC power source to an AC grid, the power conditioning unit comprising:
- a plurality of input terminals for connecting to the DC power source;
a plurality of output terminals for connecting to the AC grid;
a DC-DC converter connected to the plurality of input terminals for converting a voltage at the plurality of input terminals to a voltage above an AC grid voltage;
a DC link connected to an output of the DC-DC converter;
a current control circuit connected to the DC link, the current control circuit comprising a switch and an inductor;
a DC-AC converter connected to an output of the current control circuit;
a reference current generating circuit that generates a sinusoidal reference current synchronized to the AC grid based on an output voltage of the DC-AC converter; and
a controller that turns the switch on, allowing current to flow, when an output current from the inductor is lower than the sinusoidal reference, and turns the switch off when the output current from the inductor is higher than the sinusoidal reference.

11. A method of controlling a power conditioning unit for the delivery of power to an AC mains, the method comprising:
-
receiving a first DC voltage at a voltage increasing converter and delivering a second DC voltage that is higher than the first DC voltage to a DC link in the power conditioning unit; filtering the second DC voltage with the DC link and delivering a filtered voltage to a current control circuit that includes a switch and an energy storage device; receiving power from the current control circuit and converting it to AC with a DC-AC converter to deliver to an AC mains output of the power conditioning unit; generating a reference current based on an output voltage of the DC-AC converter; and controlling the current control circuit by turning the switch on, allowing current to flow when an output current from the energy storage device is lower than the reference current, and turning the switch off when the output current from the energy storage device is higher than the reference current. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
