1. A method for communicating with a base station, comprising:

  • transmitting, by a user equipment (UE), a sounding reference signal (SRS) during a subframe, the subframe including an uplink period and a downlink period,wherein the SRS is configured using permutation or scrambling in order to avoid collision, wherein the SRS is transmitted using non-orthogonal physical resources via an uplink channel, and wherein the SRS is elongated such that the elongated SRS is transmitted during the uplink period of the subframe and during at least a portion of the downlink period of the subframe; and

    receiving, by the UE from the base station, a beamformed downlink communication derived based on information corresponding to the uplink channel obtained from at least the elongated SRS and applied to a downlink channel.
