1. A method for improving alert notifications of security and/or automation systems, comprising:
- detecting, by a processor of the security and/or automation system, an event in a home associated with a first occupant of the home;
identifying, by the processor, a location of a second occupant in the home, the second occupant different from the first occupant;
identifying, by the processor, a relation between the first occupant and the second occupant;
determining, by the processor, whether the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of a first type of relation or a second type of relation;
upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the first type of relation, blocking, by the processor, an alert being provided to the second occupant of the home; and
upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the second type of relation, providing, by the processor, the alert to the second occupant of the home based at least in part on the detected event and the identifying the location of the second occupant.

17. An apparatus for improving alert notifications of security and/or automation systems, comprising:
-
a processor; memory in electronic communication with the processor; and instructions stored in the memory, the instructions being executable by the processor to; detect an event in a home associated with a first occupant of the home; identify a location of a second occupant in the home, the second occupant different from the first occupant; identify a relation between the first occupant and the second occupant; determine whether the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of a first type of relation or a second type of relation; upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the first type of relation, block an alert being provided to the second occupant of the home; and upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the second type of relation, provide the alert to the second occupant of the home based at least in part on the detected event and the identifying the location of the second occupant. - View Dependent Claims (18, 19)

20. A non-transitory computer-readable medium storing computer-executable code for improving alert notifications of security and/or automation systems, the code executable by a processor to:
-
detect an event in a home associated with a first occupant of the home; identify a location of a second occupant in the home, the second occupant different from the first occupant; and identify a relation between the first occupant and the second occupant; determine whether the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of a first type of relation or a second type of relation; upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the first type of relation, block an alert being provided to the second occupant of the home; and upon determining the relation between the first occupant and the second occupant is of the second type of relation, provide the alert to the second occupant of the home based at least in part on the detected event and the identifying the location of the second occupant.
