1. A method for manufacturing a device having multiple, different graphical user interfaces, comprising:

  • arranging a plurality of individually illuminable translucent display portions in overlapping relation;

    arranging on each of the plurality of translucent display portions an image;

    associating a source of light energy with each of the plurality of translucent display portions; and

    providing a controller for causing the source of light energy to individually illuminate only those of the plurality of translucent display portions that are included within a selected one of a plurality of translucent display portion combinations such that, when light energy from the source of light energy is directed towards those of the plurality of translucent display portions that are included within the selected one of the plurality of translucent display portion combinations, light energy from the source of light energy causes the image arranged on those of the plurality of translucent display portions that are within the selected one of the plurality of translucent display portion combinations to be made more visibly prominent relative to images arranged on those of the plurality of translucent display portions that are excluded from the selected one of the plurality of translucent display portion combinations to thereby provide the multiple, different graphical user interfaces.
