1. A method of manufacturing a viewing set of ophthalmic devices for three-dimensional perception of stereoscopic media, the method comprising the steps of:
- forming a first ophthalmic device configured to be placed on or in a first eye of a user;
forming a first media insert on a substrate, wherein the first media insert comprises a first active translation filter, a first activation load capable of controlling the first active translation filter and a first power source in electrical communication with the first activation load;
adding the first media insert to the first ophthalmic device;
forming a second ophthalmic device configured to be placed on or in a second eye;
forming a second media insert on a substrate, wherein the second media insert comprises a second active translation filter, a second activation load capable of controlling the second active translation filter and a second power source in electrical communication with the second activation load; and
adding the second media insert to the second ophthalmic device;
wherein the first active translation filter is capable of providing the first eye with a first filtered translation of a stereoscopic image and the second active translation filter is capable of providing the second eye with a second filtered translation of a stereoscopic image,wherein one or both of the first media insert and the second media insert comprises a stereoscopic media sensor configured to detect a presence of a three-dimensional stereoscopic media by recognizing the refresh rate of the three-dimensional stereoscopic media and to activate the first and second activation loads upon detection of the three-dimensional stereoscopic media, andwherein the first filtered translation and the second filtered translation, when viewed concurrently, comprise the three-dimensional perception.
