Peak power caching in a wireless power system
First Claim
1. A method comprising:
- receiving, at a control module of an information handling system, a turbo mode request to operate a central processing unit of the information handling system in a turbo mode;
determining, by the control module, whether a wireless charging module of the information handling system has sufficient power delivery capability to enable a turbo mode of the information handling system;
providing power to a capacitor in response to receiving the turbo mode request and determining that the wireless charging module has sufficient power delivery capability;
determining whether a first voltage of the capacitor is substantially equal to a second voltage of a second capacitor in the information handling system; and
providing, from the capacitor, power to the central processing unit for the turbo mode in response to the first voltage being substantially equal to the second voltage.

Abstract
An information handling system includes a wireless charging module, a capacitor, and a control module. The wireless charging module receives wireless power from a wireless charging pad, and provides power to other components in the information handling system. The control module receives a turbo mode request, and determines whether the wireless charging module of the information handling system has sufficient power delivery capability to enable a turbo mode of the information handling system. The wireless power charging module provides power to the capacitor in response to the turbo mode request being received and the wireless charging module having sufficient power delivery capability. The control module determines whether a first voltage of the capacitor is substantially equal to a second voltage of a second capacitor in the information handling system, and in response to the first voltage being substantially equal to the second voltage the capacitor to provide power for the turbo mode.

15. A method comprising:
-
receiving, at an antenna of a wireless charging module of an information handling system, wireless power from an antenna of a wireless charging pad; receiving, at a control module of the information handling system, a turbo mode request to operate a central processing unit of the information handling system in a turbo mode; comparing, by the control module, a power delivery capability of the wireless charging module to a threshold; determining, at the control module, that the wireless charging module has sufficient power delivery capability in response to the power delivery capability of the wireless charging module being above the threshold; providing power to a capacitor in response to receiving the turbo mode request and determining that the wireless charging module has sufficient power delivery capability; determining whether a first voltage of the capacitor is substantially equal to a second voltage of a second capacitor in the information handling system; and providing, from the capacitor, power to the central processing unit for the turbo mode in response to the first voltage being substantially equal to the second voltage. - View Dependent Claims (16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
