Abstract

Systems, methods, and media for managing an entertainment system are provided. In some implementations, systems for managing an entertainment system are provided, the systems comprising: at least one hardware processor configured to: detect a first instruction; select a component of the entertainment system; determine a first state of the component; store an indication of the first state; detect a second instruction; retrieve the indication of the first state; generate a third instruction based on the indication of the first state; and transmit the third instruction to the component of the entertainment system.

Claims

1. A system for managing an entertainment system, comprising:

a source component that includes at least one hardware processor configured to;

determine a first state of a rendering component of the entertainment system prior to a first instruction occurring, wherein the first state specifies at least one configuration setting for the rendering component with which the rendering component renders content from the source component;

receive a second instruction, from a device separate from the source component; and

,

when the rendering component is not in the first state, transmit a third instruction over a communication network to the rendering component in response to the second instruction occurring after the first instruction, wherein the third instruction is based on the determination of the first state and is configured to cause the rendering component to be in the first state.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the first instruction causes the rendering component to stop being in the first state.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one hardware processor is also configured to select the source component based on the source component being an active signal source for the rendering component of the entertainment system when the first instruction occurs.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one hardware processor is also configured to:

transmit a query over a communications bus; and

receive an indication of a configuration setting of the rendering component in response to the query.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the second instruction is an instruction to cause the rendering component to be in the first state.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the third instruction is for setting a configuration setting of the rendering component to a value the configuration setting was set to when the first instruction was detected.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the at least one hardware processor is also configured to generate the third instruction based on the determination of the first state.

8. A method for managing an entertainment system, comprising:

determining, using at least one hardware processor of a source component, a first state of a rendering component of the entertainment system prior to a first instruction occurring, wherein the first state specifies at least one configuration setting for the rendering component with which the rendering component renders content from the source component;

receiving a second instruction from a device separate from the source component; and

,

when the rendering component is not in the first state, causing, by the at least one hardware processor, a third instruction to be transmitted over a communication network to the rendering component in response to the second instruction occurring after the first instruction, wherein the third instruction is based on the determination of the first state and is configured to cause the rendering component to be in the first state.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the first instruction causes the rendering component to stop being in the first state.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising selecting the source component based on the source component being an active signal source for the rendering component of the entertainment system when the first instruction occurs.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

transmitting a query over a communications bus; and

receiving an indication of a configuration setting of the rendering component in response to the query.

12. The method of claim 8, wherein the second instruction is an instruction to cause the rendering component to be in the first state.

13. The method of claim 8, wherein the third instruction is for setting a configuration setting of the rendering component to a value the configuration setting was set to when the first instruction was detected.

14. The method of claim 8, further comprising generating the third instruction based on the determination of the first state.

15. A non-transitory computer-readable medium containing computer-executable instructions that, when executed by a processor of a source component of an entertainment system, cause the processor to perform a method for managing the entertainment system, the method comprising:

determining a first state of a rendering component of the entertainment system prior to a first instruction occurring, wherein the first state specifies at least one configuration setting for the rendering component with which the rendering component renders content from the source component;

receiving a second instruction from a device separate from the source component; and

,

when the rendering component is not in the first state, transmitting a third instruction over a communication network to the rendering component in response to the second instruction occurring after the first instruction, wherein the third instruction is based on the determination of the first state and is configured to cause the rendering component to be in the first state.

16. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the first instruction causes the rendering component to stop being in the first state.

17. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises selecting the source component based on the source component being an active signal source for the rendering component of the entertainment system when the first instruction occurs.

18. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises:

transmitting a query over a communications bus; and

receiving an indication of a configuration setting of the rendering component in response to the query.

19. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the second instruction is an instruction to cause the rendering component to be in the first state.

20. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the third instruction is for setting a configuration setting of the rendering component to a value the configuration setting was set to when the first instruction was detected.

21. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 15, wherein the method further comprises generating the third instruction based on the determination of the first state.
