a thin film transistor disposed on the substrate, wherein the thin film transistor comprises a drain electrode;
a passivation layer disposed on the substrate covering the thin film transistor;
a common electrode disposed on the passivation layer, wherein the common electrode receives a common voltage;
a liquid crystal layer disposed in a microcavity layer on the common electrode;
a roof layer disposed covering the liquid crystal layer; and
a pixel electrode disposed on the roof layer,whereina first opening is defined in a portion of the roof layer, the first opening overlapping the liquid crystal layer in a direction substantially perpendicular to the substrate and being disposed above the liquid crystal layer at a pixel electrode region, in which the pixel electrode is disposed,a second opening is defined in the roof layer at a drain electrode exposing region, through which the drain electrode of the thin film transistor is exposed, anda connection opening, which connects the first opening and the second opening, is defined in the roof layer.
