1. A stapling attachment for use with a remotely controllable system, wherein said stapling attachment comprises:
- a mounting portion;
an elongate shaft extending from said mounting portion;
an end effector including a staple cartridge assembly;
a firing member movable within said staple cartridge assembly during a staple firing stroke;
a motor-driven drive system configured to move said firing member through said staple firing stroke;
a power source configured to selectively supply power to said motor-driven drive system, wherein said stapling attachment is inoperable to perform said staple firing stroke until said stapling attachment is operably attached to the remotely controllable system;
a first powered state prior to said staple firing stroke in which said power source supplies power to said stapling attachment, wherein said stapling attachment cannot perform said staple firing stroke during said first powered state; and
a second powered state in which said power source supplies power to said motor-driven drive system to perform said staple firing stroke.
