1. An apparatus for applying negative pressure to a wound, the apparatus comprising:

  • a negative pressure source configured to be fluidically coupled to a wound dressing via a fluid flow path;

    a power source configured to supply power to the negative pressure source; and

    a controller configured to;

    monitor a duty cycle of the negative pressure source, a time elapsed from an initial activation of the negative pressure source, and a remaining capacity of the power source, the time elapsed from the initial activation being monitored independently from the remaining capacity of the power source;

    adjust a duty cycle threshold based at least in part on the remaining capacity of the power source and the time elapsed from the initial activation; and

    when a leak is present in the fluid flow path, operate the negative pressure source based at least in part on a comparison of the duty cycle and the duty cycle threshold.
