- a thermoelectric module connected to a vehicle exhaust system and configured to generate electricity based on a temperature differential created by the vehicle exhaust system;
a sensor configured to measure a characteristic reflecting a parameter of a fuel storage system and output a signal, and to receive power from the thermoelectric module connected to the vehicle exhaust system; and
a wireless transmitter in communication with the sensor and configured to;
receive power from the thermoelectric module;
receive the signal from the sensor; and
transmit the signal that is received from the sensor;
wherein the thermoelectric module is configured and arranged to power the sensor and the wireless transmitter.

a plurality of vehicle systems; a thermoelectric module connected to a first one of the plurality of vehicle systems and configured to generate electricity based on a temperature differential; a sensor configured to measure a characteristic reflecting a parameter of one of the plurality of vehicle systems and output a signal and to receive power from the thermoelectric module connected to the vehicle exhaust system; a wireless transmitter in communication with the sensor and configured to; receiver power from the thermoelectric module; receive the signal from the sensor; and transmit the signal that is received from the sensor; and a vehicle control unit that is configured to control at least one of the plurality of vehicle systems, wherein the wireless transmitter is configured to be wirelessly coupled to the vehicle control unit; wherein the thermoelectric module is configured to power the sensor and the wireless transmitter.
