1. A system for steering a medicant through a tissue, the tissue having a first region located at a first depth and a second region adjacent to the first region and located at a second depth, the system comprising:

  • a probe configured to output a first acoustic energy and a second acoustic energy; and

a control system coupled to the probe and having a control logic configured to control the output of acoustic energy from the probe, the probe and the control system configured to, in use when the medicant is present in the first region, focus the first acoustic energy from the source to the first region, the first acoustic energy having a first spatial and temporal energy profile configured to provide cavitation and radiation force, the cavitation and radiation force configured to move the medicant from the first region to the second region, the probe and the control system further configured to, in use when the medicant has moved from the first region to the second region, focus the second acoustic energy from the source to the second region, the second acoustic energy having a second spatial and temporal energy profile configured to enhance effectiveness of the medicant in the second region.
