1. A golf club head, comprising:

  • a metal body including a crown portion, a sole portion, and a heel portion connecting the crown portion and the sole portion, wherein a hosel formed of a metallic material extends outward from the crown portion proximate the heel portion;

    a metal strike plate connected to the metal body and defining a front surface for striking a golf ball, wherein the sole portion, the crown portion, and the heel portion extend rearward from the metal strike plate toward a rear portion of the club head, and the sole portion extends further rearward than the crown portion of the metal body;

    wherein the crown portion of the metal body has an outwardly facing attachment surface and a first abutment surface extending between the attachment surface and an outer surface of the crown portion; and

    a composite shell coupled to the crown portion, the composite shell having an outer surface, an inner facing surface, and a second abutment surface extending between the outer surface and the inner facing surface of the composite shell, wherein the inner facing surface of the shell is composite smooth;

    wherein the attachment surface of the crown portion is adhesively bonded to the inner facing surface of the composite shell, the first abutment surface is connected to the second abutment surface, and the attachment surface is at least four times as wide as a thickness of the composite shell.
