1. A charging system for an electric bus, comprising:

  • a charging station including at least a pair of charging electrodes, the pair of charging electrodes including (a) a linear first electrode extending along a first longitudinal axis and (b) a linear second electrode extending along a second longitudinal axis, wherein the first electrode and the second electrode are spaced apart from each other and arranged such that the first longitudinal axis and the second longitudinal axis extend along a single straight line;

    at least a pair of charge-receiving electrodes positioned on a roof of the electric bus, the pair of charge-receiving electrodes including (c) a linear third electrode extending along a third longitudinal axis and (d) a linear fourth electrode extending along a fourth longitudinal axis, wherein the third electrode and the fourth electrode are arranged such that the third longitudinal axis and the fourth longitudinal axis are parallel to each other and transverse to the first longitudinal axis and the second longitudinal axis, and wherein the first electrode is configured to contact the third electrode and the second electrode is configured to contact the fourth electrode during charging of the electric bus; and

    a positioning device configured to adjust a distance between the pair of charging electrodes and the pair of charge-receiving electrodes to establish electrical connection therebetween.
