- detecting, by a waveguide system, an environmental condition that affects operations of the waveguide system for transmitting or receiving electromagnetic waves via a transmission medium without requiring an electrical return path, wherein the waveguide system comprises a coupler for transmitting or receiving the electromagnetic waves and wherein the coupler is not coaxially aligned with the transmission medium; and
enabling, by the waveguide system, a heating system of the waveguide system to mitigate an effect of the environmental condition on the operations of the waveguide system for transmitting or receiving the electromagnetic waves.

a launcher that operates by transmitting electromagnetic waves that are guided by a transmission medium, wherein the launcher is not coaxially aligned with the transmission medium; a sensor that facilitates generation of sensor data indicating an environmental condition that adversely affects operations of the launcher; a heating system that facilitates generation of heat; and a circuit, coupled to the sensor and the heating system, that facilitates detection of the environmental condition based on the sensor data, and enablement of the heating system to mitigate an effect of the environmental condition on the operations of the launcher for transmitting the electromagnetic waves. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
