Office infrastructure device with extended integrated biometric login system
First Claim
1. An office infrastructure device connectable to a host personal computer to execute thereon a user-definable work space, the office infrastructure device comprising:
- (a) user-accessible data storage for storing user files and data, the data storage being accessible through said user-definable work space;
(b) a unique device identification code;
(c) a biometric login system capable of sensing a preselected biometric indicia of a user for computation of user biometric authentication data; and
(d) user-executable code scripted to launch said user-definable work space on said host personal computer, wherein the user-definable work space provides access to both (i) user files and data stored in said user-accessible data storage and (ii) a private internet site for synching user files and data from said data storage, andwherein said access to said data storage and said internet site is provided as a function of both said unique device identification code and said user biometric identification data.

Abstract
A mission-specific computer peripheral, incorporating an integrated biometric login system, provides a portable linkable work platform. The device is used for establishing a shareable office computing infrastructure on a host personal computer and for accessing securely thereon (i.e., through biometric identification) a comparatively extensive selection of applications, services, and functions. In its principal embodiment, the device includes data storage (used for reading and writing both system and user data), user executable code (for launching the shareable office computing infrastructure on the host personal computer), and a power button containing an integrated fingerprint scanner (used to capture biometric data for authentication together with a unique device identification code). Incorporation of the biometric login system into the device promotes its accessibility and convenience.
