Medial rotational traction element arrangement for an article of footwear
First Claim
1. An article of footwear, comprising:
- a sole structure including a bottom surface;
a first traction element extending away from the bottom surface of the sole structure, the first traction element including;
a straight inner face oriented towards a central region of a forefoot region of the sole structure;
a curved outer face disposed opposite the straight inner face and oriented in a first direction that is facing away from the central region, and wherein the curved outer face is convex;
a first ground-engaging face having a first height from the bottom surface and oriented away from the bottom surface;
a first cut step face oriented away from the bottom surface and having a second height from the bottom surface, the second height being less than the first height, and the curved outer face forming an edge with the first ground-engaging face and the first cut step face; and
a first vertical surface extending between the first cut step face and the first ground-engaging face, the first vertical surface being oriented in the first direction.

Abstract
A traction element arrangement for a sole structure of an article of footwear is described. Traction elements of a first group are associated with a lateral side of the sole structure. Traction elements of a second group are associated with a medial side of the sole structure. Traction elements of the second group include medial rotational traction elements that have a plurality of stud elements arranged in a circular grouping. Stud elements may be aligned laterally across the sole structure with traction elements of the first group. Stud elements may be aligned longitudinally across the sole structure to be arranged in different configurations along an outside medial side or an inside medial side.
