A method of treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML) associated with a myelodysplastic syndrome, the method comprising administering to a patient having AML a therapeutically effective amount of 5-azacytidine, and a therapeutically effective amount of 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6-dione or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6-dione is administered in an amount of about 5 mg to about 25 mg per day.

A method of treating acute myeloid leukemia (AML) associated with a myelodysplastic syndrome, the method comprising administering to a patient having AML a therapeutically effective amount of 5-azacytidine, and a therapeutically effective amount of 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6-dione or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6-dione is administered in an amount of about 5 mg to about 25 mg per day.

A method of treating high-risk or advanced myelodysplastic syndrome according to the international prognostic scoring system (IPSS), the method comprising administering to a patient having high-risk or advanced myelodysplastic syndrome a therapeutically effective amount of 5-azacytidine, and a therapeutically effective amount of 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6-dione or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof wherein 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6-dione is administered in an amount of about 5 mg to about 25 mg per day for twenty-one days followed by seven days rest every 28 days.

A method of treating myelodysplastic syndrome, the method comprising administering to a patient having myelodysplastic syndrome a therapeutically effective amount of 3-(4-amino-1-oxo-1,3-dihydro-isoindol-2-yl)-piperidine-2,6-dione or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and a therapeutically effective amount of a proteasome inhibitor.
