1. A method of moving molten metal out of a vessel that includes a bottom surface, a cavity, a transfer chamber formed in the cavity and an opening beneath the transfer chamber, the transfer chamber comprising:

  • an uptake section with a restricted area, the restricted area configured to receive at least part of a rotor, and an outlet above the restricted area and above the opening, the outlet in communication with the uptake section and leading out of the vessel;

    wherein the bottom surface of the vessel extends below the uptake section and the outlet, the method comprising the steps of;

    (a) causing molten metal to flow towards the opening in the vessel; and

    (b) pumping molten metal from the opening, up the uptake section, and out of the outlet where the molten metal exits the vessel.
