1. A method for treating mood and/or anxiety disorder in a patient using electrical stimulation, wherein the method comprising:

  • performing functional brain imaging of the patient'"'"'s brain to identify a target cortical area having an abnormal neuronal signal in the cortex of the patient'"'"'s brain;

    positioning at least one electrode array on at least one hemisphere under the skull and above the dura over the target cortical area such that the at least electrode array is positioned over a neuronal population 34±

    1 mm from midline, 18±

    1 mm anterior to the anterior commissure and 24±

    1 mm superior to the midcommissural line and over Brodmann area 9/46 of a dorsal lateral prefrontal area of each hemisphere; and

    applying electrical pulses via the electrode array using a pulse generator to electrically stimulate the at least one hemisphere of the patient'"'"'s brain thereby treating the mood and/or anxiety disorder.
