1. An optical charging and communications device comprising:
- a transmitter having a first end and a second end, the transmitter configured to receive power from an external source, the transmitter comprising a power module, a power charging laser, and a diffuser film, wherein the transmitter includes a detector disposed at the second end; and
a receiver having a first end and a second end, the receiver including an emitter disposed at the first end of the receiver, wherein the emitter is configured to operatively interconnect with the detector defining a connected state between the transmitter and receiver, the receiver comprising an array of two or more PV cells;
wherein the power module controls the laser;
wherein the power charging laser emits a laser light, wherein the laser light is diffused by the diffuser film, exits the diffuser film, and is sent over the air to the array of two or more PV cells, the array of two or more PV cells being disposed opposite the power charging laser and diffuser film in the connected state between the transmitter and receiver; and
wherein the receiver outputs a device power output.
