1. A battery module, comprising:

  • a plurality of battery cells;

    a battery terminal configured to output power produced by the plurality of battery cells;

    a relay having a first contact electrically coupled to the plurality of battery cells and a second contact electrically coupled to the battery terminal, having a switch interposed between the first contact and the second contact, having a switch control operable to cause the switch to transition between an open state and a closed state, having a first sense connection point internal to the relay on one side of the switch and a second sense connection point internal to the relay on the other side of the switch, and having a terminal having a first set of conductors extending to the switch control and a second set of conductors extending to the first and second sense connection points respectively, wherein the relay is configured to electrically couple and decouple the plurality of battery cells to the battery terminal via the switch interposed between the first contact and the second contact;

    a control module having measurement electronics configured to sense a condition of the plurality of battery cells via a first sensing conductor and a second sensing conductor and having a relay driver configured to deliver signals to the switch control via a set of relay control lines; and

    a connector configured to couple the set of relay control lines and the first and second sensing conductors to the terminal of the relay such that the set of relay control lines make electrical contact with the first set of conductors and the first and second sensing conductors make electrical contact with the second set of conductors.
