1. A method for energy management, the method comprising:
- monitoring, by a hardware processor of an automation system, an aspect of a dwelling, the aspect including an energy consumption of an appliance at the dwelling and a current energy price;
comparing, by the hardware processor, the monitored aspect of the dwelling to an energy policy to determine a deviation of the monitored aspect of the dwelling from a setting of the energy policy;
automatically providing continuous adjustment within an interval, by the hardware processor, to at least one of a lighting element of the dwelling and a temperature element of the dwelling based at least in part on the comparison in relation to the energy consumption of the appliance and a current energy price associated with the energy consumption of the appliance, wherein the duration of the interval comprises the time following the comparing and prior to a subsequent action of the hardware processor, and wherein the lighting element or the temperature element, or both, remain in an on-state before, during, and after an adjustment;
sending, by the hardware processor, a notification to an occupant, the notification comprising the deviation of the monitored aspect of the dwelling from the setting of the energy policy; and
allowing, by the hardware processor, the occupant to automatically post the monitored aspect of the dwelling according to the setting of the energy policy, wherein the monitored aspect is shared with occupants of other dwellings.

Abstract
A method for energy management is described. In one embodiment, an aspect of a dwelling is monitored. The monitored aspect of the dwelling is compared to an energy policy to determine a deviation of the monitored aspect of the dwelling from a setting of the energy policy. A notification is sent to an occupant, the notification comprising the deviation of the monitored aspect of the dwelling from the setting of the energy policy.
