1. A device comprising:
- a processor configured to validate data for compliance with a canonical standard in accordance with a metric;
a communication port configured to provide a connection between the device and an entity associated with the device; and
a memory configured to store a translation key configured to map information between a first form compliant with the canonical standard and a second form compliant with an information standard of the entity associated with the device,wherein the processor is further configured to;
transform information that is in the second form into the first form or vice-versa based on the translation key,validate the transformed information in accordance with the metric, and generate diagnostic information associated with the validate of the transformed information,indicate, responsive to a failure of a validation of the transformed information in accordance with the metric, that the translation key is inaccurate, and convey the diagnostic information provided by the validate for a determination as to whether the translation key needs to be corrected,assign or obtain, for each communication transferred through the device between a network device connected with the device and the entity associated with the device, a local identification label that identifies the device and the entity, the local identification label including a device identifier, an entity identifier, and a network identifier, andtransmit, via the communication port, the local identification label to the network device.

Abstract
A system and method for efficiently linking local databases having different data formats or standards into a network, wherein a content based router is provided between each of the databases and a network “party line” bus and translates data from the respective database into a common canonical form or format so that all information within the network between the content based routers complies with the common canonical form and are validated according to single standard or mechanism, for example when information first enters the network. Also provided is a tracking or audit mechanism whereby each item of information provided with a unique network identifier when it first enters the network, and is also provided with or associated with a local identifier from each local database that originates or accesses the information item and router identifiers of the content based routers corresponding to those local databases.

8. A computer-readable non-transitory medium having information stored thereon, the information comprising:
-
a metric for validating data electronically communicated in a network between content-based routers for compliance with a canonical standard; a translation key configured to map information between a first form compliant with the canonical standard and a second form compliant with an information standard of an entity associated with a content-based router device; and instructions when executed on a processor cause a processor to; enable electronic communication between the content-based router device and the entity associated with the content-based router device; transform information that is in the second form into the first form and vice versa based on the translation key; validate the transformed information in accordance with the metric and generate associated diagnostic information; indicate, responsive to a failure of a validation of the transformed information in accordance with the metric, that the translation key is inaccurate, and convey the diagnostic information for a determination as to whether the translation key needs to be corrected, assign or obtain, for each communication transferred through the content-based router device between a network device connected with the content-based router device and the entity associated with the content-based router device, a local identification label that identifies the content-based router device and the entity, the local identification label including a content-based router device identifier, an entity identifier, and a network identifier, and transmit, via the communication port, the local identification label to the network device. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11)
