1. An implantable lead extension, comprising:

  • an extension jacket;

    a tubular shield layer within the extension jacket; and

    a non-conductive housing at a distal end of the extension jacket that includes an opening, a connector within the opening, the housing comprising a first layer of non-conductive material that surrounds the connector and a second layer of non-conductive material that surrounds the first layer of non-conductive material, wherein the tubular shield layer extends from the extension jacket between the first layer of non-conductive material and the second layer of non-conductive material, and wherein the tubular shield is conductively coupled to the connector, the tubular shield layer comprising a braid at least within the non-conductive housing.
