1. A method of programming an ophthalmic lens with a programmable media insert, the method comprising the steps of:
- assembling the programmable media insert into the ophthalmic lens, wherein the programmable media insert is responsive to a set of programming parameters to define a functionality of the ophthalmic lens, such that the functionality may be customized to a wearer, the assembling comprising;
placing the programmable media insert proximate to the reactive monomer mixture, wherein the reactive monomer mixture comprises a photoabsorptive component;
placing a forming optic proximate to the programmable media insert, wherein the forming optic comprises a forming surface with dimensions and curvature consistent with a back curve of the ophthalmic lens;
forming the ophthalmic lens by exposing the reactive monomer mixture to actinic radiation, wherein the actinic radiation is capable of controlling polymerization on a voxel by voxel basis over the forming surface and wherein the actinic radiation comprises a wavelength at least partially absorbed by the photoabsorptive component;
removing the forming optic and the ophthalmic lens from contact with the reactive monomer mixture, wherein the ophthalmic lens comprises voxels of non-fluent polymerized material securing the programmable media insert; and
removing the ophthalmic lens from the forming optic; and
providing the programmable media insert with a set of programming parameters.

Abstract
The present invention discloses methods for manufacturing and programming an energizable Ophthalmic Lens with a programmable Media Insert. In some embodiments, a Media Insert may be programmable to allow for further customization of the energized Ophthalmic Lens. The Media Insert may be programmed prior to or during the manufacturing process. Alternatively, the Media Insert may be programmed after the components have been encapsulated, wherein the programming may occur wirelessly. Accordingly, methods of wirelessly programming the Media Insert may be significant.
