Auto-detection of repeated signals
First Claim
1. A system comprising:
- circuitry configured to receive a signal comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first portion comprising a first symbol and a second symbol;
a detector configured to determine, based on a first decision metric component and a second decision metric component, whether the second symbol is a repeated version of the first symbol, the first decision metric component contributing to the detector determining that the second symbol is the repeated version of the first symbol, and the second decision metric component contributing to the detector determining that the second symbol is not the repeated version of the first symbol; and
a decoder coupled with the detector, the decoder configured to process the second portion of the signal in accordance with a first format responsive to the detector determining that the second symbol is not the repeated version of the first symbol, and to process the second portion of the signal in accordance with a second format responsive to the detector determining that the second symbol is the repeated version of the first symbol.

Abstract
Systems and techniques relating to repeated signal detection are described. A described technique includes receiving a signal including first and second portions, the first portion includes first and second symbols; performing a determination, based on a first decision metric component and a second decision metric component, of whether the second symbol is a repeated version of the first symbol, the first decision metric component contributing to the determination that the second symbol is the repeated version of the first symbol, and the second decision metric component contributing to the determination that the second symbol is not the repeated version of the first symbol; and decoding the second portion of the signal in accordance with a first format or a second format. The first format is used if the first symbol is not repeated. The second format is used if the first symbol is repeated.

8. A device comprising:
-
a receiver configured to receive a signal comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first portion comprising a first symbol and a second symbol; and a processor coupled with the receiver, wherein the processor is programmed to make a determination, based on a first decision metric component and a second decision metric component, of whether the second symbol is a repeated version of the first symbol, the first decision metric component contributing to the determination in accordance with the second symbol being the repeated version of the first symbol, and the second decision metric component contributing to the determination in accordance with the second symbol not being the repeated version of the first symbol, and wherein the processor is programmed to decode the second portion of the signal in accordance with a first format responsive to the determination indicating that the second symbol is not the repeated version of the first symbol, and to decode the second portion of the signal in accordance with a second format responsive to the determination indicating that the second symbol is the repeated version of the first symbol. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10, 11, 12, 13)

14. A method comprising:
-
receiving a signal comprising a first portion and a second portion, the first portion comprising a first symbol and a second symbol; performing a determination, based on a first decision metric component and a second decision metric component, of whether the second symbol is a repeated version of the first symbol, the first decision metric component contributing to the determination that the second symbol is the repeated version of the first symbol, and the second decision metric component contributing to the determination that the second symbol is not the repeated version of the first symbol; and decoding the second portion of the signal in accordance with a first format or a second format, wherein the first format is used for decoding based on the determination indicating that the second symbol is not the repeated version of the first symbol, and wherein the second format is used for decoding based on the determination indicating that the second symbol is the repeated version of the first symbol. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
