1. A method operable by a mobile device, comprising:
- receiving, from one or more of a first communication system and a second communication system, first geographic coordinates defining a geographic location of the first communication system, second geographic coordinates defining a geographic location of the second communication system, and priority indicators indicating the respective priorities of the first communication system and the second communication system, wherein the first communication system and the second communication system are each associated with a common frequency channel;
determining that the first communication system and the second communication system are both in range of the mobile device, based on the first geographic coordinates and the second geographic coordinates;
selecting, based on the priority indicators, a highest-priority communication system from a group comprising the first communication system and the second communication system;
communicating with the highest-priority communication system on the common frequency channel;
measuring interference on the common frequency channel at the mobile device;
transmitting interference data to the highest-priority communication system; and
receiving one or more instructions to communicate on a different frequency channel that is different from the common frequency channel.

Abstract
Efficient frequency assignment for mobile terminals in coexisting wireless communication systems is described herein. The coexisting wireless communication systems comprise a macro communication system and a localized communication system. Two prioritized lists are defined, a first list comprising a first entry relating to the macro communication system and the second entry relating to the localized communication system, the first and second entries each listing at least one common frequency. Based on the first list, a mobile terminal uses communication protocols associated with the localized communication system.
