Abstract

A gaseous-fluid environmental sensor having a gaseous-fluid flow system. The gaseous-fluid flow system includes a blower to move the gaseous fluid from a inlet intake port to an outlet exhaust port via a flow path. The blower includes a motor, which can have a fluid dynamic bearing. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor further includes a flow sensor to sense a parameter relating to a flow of the gaseous fluid through the flow path and provide a signal based on the parameter, and a controller coupled to the flow sensor. The controller controls the blower based on the signal.

Claims

1. A gaseous-fluid environmental sensor, comprising:

an inlet structure defining an inlet intake port to receive a gaseous fluid of an environmental space;

an outlet structure defining an outlet exhaust port to exhaust the gaseous fluid to the environmental space;

a gaseous-fluid flow system coupled to the inlet structure and the outlet structure, the gaseous-fluid flow system defining a flow path coupling the inlet intake port to the outlet exhaust port, the gaseous-fluid flow system including

a blower to move the gaseous fluid from the inlet intake port to the outlet exhaust port via the flow path, the blower having a blower intake port, a blower exhaust port, and a blower vent port, the blower intake port and the blower exhaust port further defining the flow path, the blower further having an air bearing, and

a flow connector including a connector intake port and a connector exhaust port, the flow connector further including a chamber in fluid communication with the connector intake port and the connector exhaust port;

a flow sensor to sense a parameter relating to a flow of the gaseous fluid through the flow path and provide a signal based on the parameter; and

a controller coupled to the flow sensor and to control the blower based on the signal.

2. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 1, and further comprising a sealed blower enclosure encompassing the blower, the sealed blower enclosure including an enclosure intake port aligned with the inlet intake port and an enclosure exhaust port aligned with the blower exhaust port.

3. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 1, wherein the flow connector further includes a connector vent port, and

wherein the gaseous-fluid flow system further comprises a conduit fluidly coupling the blower vent port to the connector vent port.

4. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 1, wherein the gaseous-fluid flow system further includes a particle count sensor coupled to the controller, the particle count sensor including a sensor intake port and a sensor exhaust port both of which further define the flow path.

5. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 4, wherein the particle count sensor is before the flow connector and the blower in the flow path.

6. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 1, wherein the gaseous-fluid flow system further includes a filter having a filter intake port and a filter exhaust port both of which further define the flow path, the filter being between the blower and the outlet exhaust port in the flow path.

The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 1, wherein the gaseous-fluid flow system further includes a flow shunt having shunt intake port, a shunt exhaust port, and a sense port, all of which further define the flow path, the sense port being coupled to the flow sensor by a second conduit.

8. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 7 wherein the flow shunt is between the blower and the outlet exhaust port.

9. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 1, and further comprising a battery powering the controller and the blower.

10. The gaseous-fluid environmental sensor of claim 1, wherein the inlet structure includes an inlet tube and the outlet structure includes an exhaust shroud.
