1. An analyte sensing device for detecting an analyte in a host, comprising:
- a transcutaneous continuous sensor configured to measure a clinically useful analyte concentration in a tissue of a host for a time period from one day to fifteen days post implantation, the sensor comprising;
a sensor configured to measure an analyte in a host;
a sensing membrane located over the sensor; and
a biointerface membrane disposed on the sensing membrane, wherein the biointerface membrane is configured to interface with biological fluid, wherein the biointerface membrane has a dry thickness from 0.2 microns to 5 microns, wherein the biointerface membrane comprises a material that has from 20 wt. % to about 80 wt. % water during sensor use,wherein the sensor has a sensitivity of 1 pA/mg/dL to 100 pA/mg/dL during a sensor session.
