Abstract

A heart valve system, the system including a radially self-expandable tubular body, a valve, and a tubular fabric. The tubular body having an inflow end and an outflow end and including a plurality of struts with at least one motion buffer component integrated in the tubular body. The valve being coupled to the tubular body and including a plurality of valve leaflets. The fabric being disposed over an outer surface of the tubular body and over an outer surface of the motion buffer component. Additionally, when the outflow end of the tubular body moves radially inward from movement of the valve leaflets, the motion buffer component being configured so as to not move radially inward with the outflow end of the tubular body.

Claims

1. A heart valve system, the system comprising:

a radially self-expandable tubular body having an inflow end and an outflow end, the tubular body including a plurality of struts with at least one motion buffer component integrated in the tubular body;

a valve coupled to the tubular body, the valve including a plurality of valve leaflets; and

a fabric disposed over an outer surface of the tubular body and over an outer surface of the motion buffer component,

wherein;

the tubular body includes a plurality of beams at the outflow end of the tubular body, the plurality of beams providing connection points between the inflow end and the plurality of beams, a number of connection points being equivalent to a number of the valve leaflets,

a strut width of the motion buffer component is smaller than a strut width of the beams, and

when the outflow end of the tubular body moves radially inward from movement of the valve leaflets, the motion buffer component is configured so as to not move radially inward with the outflow end of the tubular body.

2. The system according to claim 1, wherein the motion buffer component is configured to move radially outward when the outflow end of the tubular body moves radially inward.

3. The system according to claim 2, wherein the motion buffer component is configured to push radially outward against the fabric when the outflow end of the tubular body moves radially inward.

4. The system according to claim 1, wherein the motion buffer component includes a droplet shape or a triangular shape.

5. The system according to claim 1, further including a trapping member configured to form at least a partial loop encircling the tubular body to trap portions of native valve leaflets and/or chords.

6. The system according to claim 5, further including an elongate outer member configured to encircle the tubular body such that the trapping member is disposed over and along the elongate outer member.

7. The system according to claim 1, wherein the motion buffer component is located at the same cross-section as the valve leaflets in a radial direction.

8. The system according to claim 1, wherein the motion buffer component is located at least in part at the same cross-section as the connection points in a radial direction.
