Abstract

An apparatus, including a memory which stores information regarding a limitation or restriction for allowing or prohibiting a control, monitoring, or security, operation, regarding a vehicle or a premises, a first controller located remote from the vehicle or premises, which is specially programmed to perform the control, monitoring, or security, operation, regarding the vehicle or premises. The first controller receives a first signal transmitted from a second controller. The first signal contains information regarding a control, monitoring, or security, operation, regarding the vehicle or premises. The second controller is located at a location remote from the first controller and remote from the vehicle or premises. The first controller determines, utilizing the information regarding the limitation or restriction, whether the control, monitoring, or security, operation, is allowed.

Claims

1. An apparatus, comprising:

a memory, wherein the memory stores information regarding a limitation or a restriction for allowing or for prohibiting a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding a system, an equipment system, a piece of equipment, a component, a device, or an accessory, of a vehicle;

a first controller, wherein the first controller is located at a location remote from the vehicle, and wherein the first controller is specially programmed to perform the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle;

wherein the first controller receives a first signal transmitted from a second controller, wherein the first signal contains information regarding a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, wherein the second controller is located at a location remote from the first controller and remote from the vehicle,

wherein the first controller processes information contained in the first signal regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, utilizing the information regarding the limitation or the restriction to determine whether the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle is allowed or disallowed, and, if allowed, the first controller transmits a second signal to a third controller located at the vehicle,

wherein the third controller generates a third signal in response to the second signal, wherein the third signal contains information for activating, deactivating, enabling, disabling, controlling an operation of, monitoring an operation of, or performing a security operation regarding, the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle.

The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first controller generates a message containing information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, and further wherein the first controller transmits the message to a communication device associated with an owner, a user, or an authorized individual, of the vehicle.

The apparatus of claim 2, wherein the apparatus receives a reply signal transmitted from the communication device or from a second communication device, wherein the second communication device is associated with the owner, the user, or the authorized individual, of the vehicle, wherein the reply signal contains information for allowing or disallowing the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle.

The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the first controller processes the information contained in the reply signal and generates a second signal for allowing or disallowing the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the first signal, the second signal, or the third signal, contains information for controlling an operation of the vehicle, a propulsion of the vehicle, a turning of the vehicle, a flight of the vehicle, or a landing of the vehicle.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the vehicle is an airplane, a jet, an aircraft, a helicopter, a train, or a subway train.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the vehicle is a boat, a marine vehicle, a submarine, or a marine vessel.

8. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the apparatus processes information for remotely repairing or remotely programming the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, via the first controller or the second controller.

9. An apparatus, comprising:

a memory, wherein the memory stores information regarding a limitation or a restriction for allowing or for prohibiting a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding a system, an equipment system, a piece of equipment, a component, a device, or an appliance, of a premises, wherein the premises is a residential premises, wherein the residential premises is or includes a house, a home, or a residential building, or the premises is a commercial premises, wherein the commercial premises is or includes a commercial building, a commercial office, or a commercial structure;

a first controller, wherein the first controller is located at a location remote from the premises, and wherein the first controller is specially programmed to perform the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises;

wherein the first controller receives a first signal transmitted from a second controller, wherein the first signal contains information regarding a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, wherein the second controller is located at a location remote from the first controller and remote from the premises,

wherein the first controller processes information contained in the first signal regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, utilizing the information regarding the limitation or the restriction to determine whether the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises is allowed or disallowed, and, if allowed, the first controller transmits a second signal to a third controller located at the premises,

wherein the third controller generates a third signal in response to the second signal, wherein the third signal contains information for activating, deactivating, enabling, disabling, or controlling an operation of, monitoring an operation of, or performing a security operation regarding, the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises.

The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the first controller generates a message containing information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, and further wherein the first controller transmits the message to a communication device associated with an owner, a user, or an authorized individual, of the premises.

The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the apparatus receives a reply signal transmitted from the communication device or from a second communication device, wherein the second communication device is associated with the owner, the user, or the authorized individual, of the premises, wherein the reply signal contains information for allowing or disallowing the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the premises.

The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the first controller processes the information contained in the reply signal and generates a second signal for allowing or disallowing the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises.

13. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the premises is a residential premises, and further wherein the residential premises includes any land associated with the house, the home, or the residential building.

14. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the first signal, the second signal, or the third signal, contains information for controlling an operation of, monitoring an operation of, or performing a security operation regarding, the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises.

15. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the premises is a commercial premises, and further wherein the commercial premises includes any land associated with the commercial building, the commercial office, or the commercial structure.

16. The apparatus of claim 9, wherein the apparatus processes information for remotely repairing or remotely programming the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, via the first controller or the second controller.

17. An apparatus, comprising:

a first controller, wherein the first controller is located at a location remote from a vehicle or remote from a premises, wherein the premises is a residential premises, wherein the residential premises is or includes a house, a home, or a residential building, or the premises is a commercial premises, wherein the commercial premises is or includes a commercial building, a commercial office, or a commercial structure, and wherein the first controller is specially programmed to perform a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding a system, an equipment system, a piece of equipment, a component, a device, or an accessory, of the vehicle, or is specially programmed to perform a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding a system, an equipment system, a piece of equipment, a component, a device, or an appliance, of the premises;

wherein the first controller receives a first signal transmitted from a second controller, wherein the first signal contains information regarding a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or contains information regarding a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, wherein the second controller is located at a location remote from the first controller and remote from the vehicle or the premises,

wherein the first controller generates a message containing information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or containing information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, and further wherein the first controller transmits the message to a communication device associated with an owner, a user, or an authorized individual, of the vehicle or of the premises.

The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the first controller determines, utilizing information regarding a limitation or a restriction, whether the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, is allowed or disallowed, and, if allowed, the first controller transmits a second signal to a third controller located at the vehicle or located at the premises,

wherein the third controller generates a third signal in response to the second signal, wherein the third signal contains information for activating, deactivating, enabling, disabling, or controlling an operation of, the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or contains information for activating, deactivating, enabling, disabling, or controlling an operation of, the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises.

19. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the first controller transmits the message to the communication device prior to transmitting a second signal to a third controller located at the vehicle or located at the premises.

20. An apparatus, comprising:

a first controller, wherein the first controller is located at a location remote from a vehicle or remote from a premises, wherein the premises is a residential premises, wherein the residential premises is or includes a house, a home, or a residential building, or the premises is a commercial premises, wherein the commercial premises is or includes a commercial building, a commercial office, or a commercial structure, and wherein the first controller is specially programmed to perform a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding a system, an equipment system, a piece of equipment, a component, a device, or an accessory, of the vehicle, or is specially programmed to perform a control operation, a monitoring operation, or a security operation, regarding a system, an equipment system, a piece of equipment, a component, a device, or an appliance, of the premises, and further wherein the first controller is specially programmed to determine, using information regarding a previously stored limitation or restriction, whether the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or whether the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, is allowed or is disallowed, and further wherein the first controller is specially programmed to generate, and to transmit, a message to a communication device associated with an owner, a user, or an authorized individual, of the vehicle or of the premises, wherein the message contains information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, prior to a performance of the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises,

wherein the first controller receives a first control signal transmitted from a second controller, wherein the first control signal contains information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or contains information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, wherein the second controller is located at a location remote from the first controller and remote from the vehicle or the premises,

wherein the first controller determines, using the information regarding the previously stored limitation or restriction, whether the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, is allowed or is disallowed,

wherein the first controller generates the message containing information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or containing information regarding the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, and further wherein the first controller transmits the message to a communication device associated with an owner, a user, or an authorized individual, of the vehicle or of the premises,

wherein, if the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, is allowed, the first controller generates a second control signal and transmits the second control signal to a third controller, wherein the third controller is located at the vehicle, at the premises, or at or on any land associated with the premises, wherein the third controller performs the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the accessory, of the vehicle, or performs the control operation, the monitoring operation, or the security operation, regarding the system, the equipment system, the piece of equipment, the component, the device, or the appliance, of the premises, in response to the second control signal,

wherein the first control signal, the message, or the second control signal, is transmitted on, over, or via, the Internet or the World Wide Web.
