  • receiving, by a merchant system comprising one or more computers, a request to conduct a card present transaction from a mobile communication device;

    receiving, by the merchant system, payment account and validation information from the mobile communication device, wherein the validation information is based at least in part on comparing a consumer mPIN (mobile personal identification number) value input by the user of the mobile communication device with a mPIN value stored on a secure element of the mobile communication device; and

    communicating, by the merchant system, the request for the purchase transaction to an issuer system, wherein the request is for a card present electronic commerce transaction, and the validation information is transmitted to the issuer system for comparison with previously stored issuer information comprising a mPIN value stored during a consumer registration process or an activation of a payment application stored on the mobile communication device.
