1. A method for transmitting wireless power comprising:

  • determining, by a transmitter, whether a first wireless power receiver coupled to a first electronic device is within range of the transmitter;

    transmitting, by the transmitter, a first communication signal to the first wireless power receiver, the first communication signal including a request for information used to determine a location of the first wireless power receiver relative to the transmitter;

    receiving, by the transmitter, a second communication signal from the first wireless power receiver, the second communication signal including information used to identify the location of the first wireless power receiver;

    based at least in part on the location of the first wireless power receiver coupled to the first electronic device;

    splitting, by the transmitter, a plurality of antennas of the transmitter into at least a first set and a second set; and

    assigning, by the transmitter, the first set of the plurality of antennas of the transmitter to transmit power transmission waves to the first wireless power receiver; and

    generating, by the transmitter, a first set of two or more power transmission waves that are transmitted with the first set of the plurality of antennas so that the first set of two or more power transmission waves form controlled constructive interference patterns that converge at the location of the first wireless power receiver.
