1. A computer-implemented method for monitoring vehicle expenses using a payment processing computer coupled to a database, said method comprising:
- receiving, by the payment processing computer, an authorization request message, wherein the authorization request message includes a vehicle identifier for identifying a vehicle, account data associated with a cardholder associated with the vehicle, and first purchase data associated with a first purchased item, wherein the first purchased item is a first vehicle related expense for at least one of operating and maintaining the vehicle;
storing, within the database, the authorization request message in a storage location associated with transaction data associated with a plurality of purchased items relating to the vehicle based on the vehicle identifier, wherein the stored transaction data includes the vehicle identifier, the account data associated with the cardholder, and a plurality of purchase data for the plurality of purchased items, wherein each of the purchased items is a vehicle related expense for at least one of operating and maintaining the vehicle;
receiving, by the payment processing computer from a user computer device, a request for a report of vehicle related expenses for the vehicle;
preparing, by the payment processing computer, the requested report of vehicle related expenses for the vehicle by using the vehicle identifier to retrieve the transaction data associated with the vehicle identifier within the database; and
transmitting, to the user computer device, the requested report of vehicle related expenses, wherein the user computer device is in communication with the payment processing computer through a communication network.

Abstract
A computer-implemented method for performing an electronic transaction using a payment computer coupled to a database is provided. The transaction includes an item purchased in association with a vehicle and initiated by a cardholder with a merchant. The method includes receiving, at the payment computer, an authorization request message from the merchant, the authorization request message including first transaction data, wherein the first transaction data includes a vehicle identifier for identifying the vehicle, an account data associated with the cardholder, and purchase data associated with a first purchased item; transmitting an authorization response message from the payment computer to the merchant, the authorization response message including an approval of the electronic transaction by an issuer bank; storing, within the database, the first transaction data including the vehicle identifier; storing, within the database, other transaction data associated with other purchased items for the vehicle, wherein the first transaction data and the other transaction data define a total transaction data associated with the vehicle; and tracking, by the vehicle identifier, the total transaction data for access by the cardholder.

a payment processing computer configured to; receive an authorization request message, wherein the authorization request message includes a vehicle identifier for identifying a vehicle, account data associated with a cardholder associated with the vehicle, and first purchase data associated with a first purchased item, wherein the first purchased item is a first vehicle related expense for at least one of operating and maintaining the vehicle; store, within a database, the authorization request message in a storage location associated with transaction data associated with a plurality of purchased items relating to vehicle based on the vehicle identifier, wherein the stored transaction data includes the vehicle identifier, the account data associated with the cardholder, and a plurality of purchase data for the plurality of purchased items, wherein each of the purchased items is a vehicle related expense for at least one of operating and maintaining the vehicle; receive, from a user computer device, a request for a report of vehicle related expenses for the requesting vehicle; prepare the requested report of vehicle related expenses for the vehicle using the vehicle identifier and to retrieve the transaction data associated with the vehicle identifier stored within the database; and transmit, to the user computer device, the requested report of vehicle related expenses; and said user computer device comprising an output device, wherein said user computer device is in communication with said payment processing computer through a communication network, said user computer device configured to; receive the report from said payment processing computer; and display the report on said output device. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14)
