Abstract

A drive safety application (app) that is controls other mobile app(s) and/or functionality of a communication device is centrally regulated via a network device. A manual override instruction can be provided to the network device by an authorized subscriber (e.g., via an online portal) and accordingly, the network device can instruct the communication device to disable the drive safety app. Profiling data is collected from various sources, such as, but not limited to, device sensors, location calculators, a vehicle'"'"'s onboard diagnostic system (e.g., OBD2) sensors (e.g., via wireless link), scanned access points, etc. The profiling data can be utilized to calibrate device sensors of the communication device and to determine a location and/or context of the user. Further, a set of the mobile apps can be disabled/enabled based on an analysis of the location and/or context.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising;

receiving profiling data associated with a user equipment, wherein the profiling data comprises first context data that has been determined, during a first-time period, based on first motion data sensed via a first sensor of the user equipment and supplementary data sensed via a second sensor associated with the user equipment, and wherein the supplementary data is data that supplements the first motion data to determine the first context data;

during a second-time period, utilizing the profiling data to calibrate second motion data sensed via the first sensor, wherein the second sensor is unavailable during the second time period;

based on an analysis of the profiling data and the second motion data, determining second context data associated with the user equipment; and

in response to determining that the second context data satisfies a defined context criterion, prohibiting an execution of an application of the user equipment.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:

based on the analysis, determining location data indicative of a geographical location of the user equipment, and wherein the prohibiting comprises prohibiting the execution in response to determining that the location data satisfies a defined location criterion.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein the application is a first application, the execution is a first execution, the defined context criterion is a first context criterion, and the operations further comprise:

in response to determining that the second context data satisfies a second context criterion, allowing a second execution of a second application of the user equipment.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the application comprises a text messaging application.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the second sensor comprises a sensor that communicates with a global positioning system satellite.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the second sensor comprises an onboard diagnostics connect sensor that communicates with a vehicle.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the second sensor comprises a transceiver that determines a presence of an access point device within a defined distance from the user equipment.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the first sensor comprises a gyroscope.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the first sensor comprises a thermal sensor.

10. The system of claim 1, wherein the profiling data is determined based on preference data associated with the user equipment.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the profiling data is determined based on historical data associated with the user equipment.

12. A method, comprising:

receiving, by a system comprising a processor, profiling data associated with a user equipment, wherein the profiling data comprises first context data that has been determined, during a first time period, based on first motion data sensed via a first sensor of the user equipment and supplementary data sensed via a second sensor associated with the user equipment, and wherein the supplementary data is data that supplements the first motion data to determine the first context data;

during a second time period, calibrating, by the system, second motion data sensed via the first sensor, wherein the calibrating is based on the profiling data, and wherein the second sensor is inaccessible to the user equipment during the second time period;

based on an analysis of the profiling data and the second motion data, determining, by the system, second context data associated with the user equipment; and

based on the second context data, regulating, by the system, an execution of an application of the user equipment.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

based on the analysis, determining, by the system, location data indicative of a geographical location of the user equipment, and wherein the regulating comprises regulating the execution in response to determining that the location data satisfies a defined location criterion.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the regulating comprises in response to determining that the second context data satisfies a defined context criterion, disabling the execution of the application.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the regulating comprises in response to determining that the second context data does not satisfy the defined context criterion, enabling the execution of the application.

16. A machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor of a mobile device, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

receiving profiling data associated with a mobile device, wherein the profiling data comprises first context data that has been determined, during a first interval, based on first motion data sensed via a first sensor of the mobile device and supplementary data sensed via a second sensor associated with the mobile device, and wherein the supplementary data is data that supplements the first motion data to determine the first context data;

during a second interval, calibrating second motion data sensed via the first sensor, wherein the calibrating is based on the profiling data, and wherein the second sensor is inaccessible to the mobile device during the second interval;

based on an analysis of the profiling data and the second motion data, determining, by the system, second context data associated with the mobile device; and

based on the second context data, regulating, by the system, an execution of an application of the mobile device.

17. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the operations further comprise:

receiving, from a network device, override data that instructs the mobile device to deny the regulating of the application.

18. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the application is disabled in response to determining that the second context data satisfies a defined context criterion.

19. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the second sensor comprises a radio network transceiver.

20. The machine-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein the first sensor comprises a gyroscope.
