1. A fluid infusion system, comprising:

  • a fluid infusion device including;

    a housing with at least one thread defined in the housing, the housing including a drive system that includes a motor coupled to a slide;

    a fluid reservoir removably received within the housing, the fluid reservoir including;

    a barrel having a proximal end and a distal end, with at least the distal end removably received within the housing, the distal end having a circumferentially open perimeter to receive a portion of the drive system therethrough and at least one inward projection;

    a stopper received in the barrel and movable within the barrel by the drive system between the distal end and the proximal end, the stopper releasably coupled to the slide, the stopper movable by the slide in a first direction to dispense a fluid from a passageway of the barrel and movable by the slide in the first direction and a second direction to draw the fluid into the passageway of the barrel to fill the barrel during an automatic fill procedure, the second direction opposite the first direction, and the inward projection retains the stopper within the barrel;

    a mounting projection coupled to the proximal end of the barrel and defining at least a second passageway in fluid communication with the passageway of the barrel and an internal bore to define a fluid flow path, with a mounting projection housing received in the internal bore and rotatable relative to the internal bore between a first position, in which the fluid flow path is obstructed, and a second position, in which the fluid flow path is open, the mounting projection housing having a tab;

    at least one thread defined along a portion of a perimeter of the barrel near the proximal end that engages with the at least one thread defined in the housing to removably couple the fluid reservoir to the housing of the fluid infusion device; and

    a control module that outputs one or more control signals to the motor to move the slide in the first direction and the second direction over a series of intervals to draw fluid from an external fluid source into the passageway of the barrel to fill the barrel of the fluid reservoir with the fluid from the external source of fluid based on an input to begin the automatic fill procedure; and

    a set connector having a body that includes a first passage and an engagement feature that cooperates with the tab of the mounting projection housing such that the mounting projection housing moves with the body of the set connector, the set connector coupleable to the fluid reservoir such that a rotation of the set connector relative to the fluid reservoir rotates the mounting projection housing to the second position to fluidly couple the first passage to the second passageway of the mounting projection to provide the fluid flow path from the fluid reservoir.
