1. A method for providing an image comprising:

  • continuously determining a frequency of a patient'"'"'s vocal cords during a videostroboscopy procedure;

    strobing light from a light source at a strobing frequency that substantially matches the patient'"'"'s vocal cord frequency;

    receiving a plurality of pulses of light from the light source as strobing input by a CMOS sensor during a pixel readout portion of a readout sequence and during a blanking portion of a readout sequence; and

    reading out information obtained from the CMOS sensor to a processor, wherein at least one of the plurality of pulses of light from the light source is suppressed during one or both of the pixel readout portion of the read out sequence and the blanking portion of the readout sequence such that an aggregate amount of illumination which is the sum of the amplitude and the duration of all nonsuppressed pulses for a first blanking period is equal to the aggregate amount of illumination level of in a successive blanking period.
