- a set-delayed cement composition comprising;
water;
pumice;
hydrated lime;
a polycarboxylated ether dispersant; and
a set retarder comprising a phosphonic acid derivative, anda cement set activator;
wherein the polycarboxylated ether dispersant and the phosphonic acid derivate form a gel that suspends the pumice and hydrated lime in the set-delayed cement composition;
wherein the set-delayed cement composition will remain in a pumpable fluid state for a time period of at least about 7 days.

A variety of methods and compositions are disclosed, including, in one embodiment, a method of cementing in a subterranean formation, comprising: providing a set-delayed cement composition comprising water, pumice, hydrated lime, and a set retarder; activating the set-delayed cement composition; introducing the set-delayed cement composition into a subterranean formation; and allowing the set-delayed cement composition to set in the subterranean formation.

a set delayed cement composition comprising; water; pumice; hydrated lime; a polycarboxylated ether dispersant, wherein the polycarboxylated ether dispersant is present in an amount of about 0.01% to about 2% by weight of the pumice; and a phosphonic acid derivative set retarder wherein the phosphonic acid derivative set retarder is present in an amount of about 0.01% to about 2% by weight of the pumice, and a cement set activator; wherein the polycarboxylated ether dispersant and the phosphonic acid derivate form a gel that suspends the pumice and hydrated lime in the set-delayed cement composition; wherein the set-delayed cement composition will remain in a pumpable fluid state for a time period of at least about 7 days, wherein the set-delayed cement composition has a pumice-to-hydrated-lime weight ratio of about 3;
