1. An optical disc apparatus that records and reproduces data onto and from an optical disc in units of a predetermined block size, the optical disc apparatus comprising:

  • an information divider that divides the data so as to reduce an amount of valid data included in each of blocks having the predetermined block size when a recording state of the optical disc does not satisfy a predetermined criterion, and generates recording data in units of the predetermined block size by adding invalid data and sub-information including a value indicating the amount of the valid data included in each of the blocks having the predetermined block size such that each of the blocks having the predetermined block size includes the valid data, the invalid data, and the sub-information;

    an error-correction encoder circuit that encodes the recording data in a first error-correction code format;

    a recorder that converts encoded recording data into a recording signal, and records the recording signal onto the optical disc; and

    a quality evaluator circuit that produces an evaluation value indicating a recording quality based on a result of reproducing the recording signal recorded on the optical disc.
