1. An information processing apparatus, comprising:
- a touch panel having an operation surface; and
circuitry configured tocause one or a plurality of objects to be displayed on the operation surface;
detect a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting information regarding a position of the operation element relative to the operation surface;
cause a first object among a plurality of objects to be displayed on the operation surface in a first display form different from display forms of the other objects when the non-contact operation is within a predetermined range of the operation surface;
cause the first object to be displayed in a second display form different from the first display form when the non-contact operation is not within the predetermined range of the operation surface; and
accept an additional operation of the information processing apparatus when a user performs the additional opertion while the first object is displayhed in the first display form during the non-contact operation, and not accept another operation of the information processing apparatus when the user performs the another operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation.

Abstract
An information processing apparatus including a touch panel that detects a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting an electrostatic capacitance of an operation surface of the touch panel; and a controller that determines a distance between the operation surface and the operation element based on the detected electrostatic capacitance, and controls a predetermined operation of the information processing apparatus based on the determined distance.

8. A method performed by an information processing apparatus, the method comprising:
-
displaying one or a plurality of objects on an operation surface of a touch panel; detecting a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting information regarding a position of the operation element relative to the operation surface; displaying a first object among a plurality of objects in a first display form different from display forms of the other objects when the non-contact operation is within a predetermined range of the operation surface; displaying the first object in a second display form different from the first display form when the non-contact operation is not within the predetermined range of the operation surface; and accepting an additional operation of the information processing apparatus when a user performs the additional operations while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation, and not accepting another operation of the information processing apparatus when the user performs the another operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation.

9. A non-transitory computer-readable medium including computer-program instructions, which when executed by an information processing apparatus, cause the information processing apparatus to:
-
display one or more of a plurality of objects on an operation surface of a touch panel; detect a non-contact operation of an operation element by detecting information regarding a position of the operation element relative to the operation surface; display a first object among a plurality of objects in a first display form different from display forms of the other objects when the non-contact operation is within a predetermined range of the operation surface; display the first object in a second display form different from the first display form when the non-contact operation is not within the predetermined range of the operation surface; and accept an additional operation of the information apparatus when a user performs the additional operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation, and not accept another operation of the information processing apparatus when the user performs the another operation while the first object is displayed in the first display form during the non-contact operation.
