1. A displacement detecting apparatus comprising:
- a first electrode having a base electrode segment and a plurality of detecting electrode segments;
a second electrode having a plurality of periodically arranged electrode segments, and displaceable relative to the first electrode; and
a detector configured to detect a displacement of the second electrode relative to the first electrode based on a capacitance between the first electrode and the second electrode,wherein an area of an overlapping region between the base electrode segment and the electrode segments in the second electrode is constant, andwherein the base electrode segment of the first electrode has a length of an integral multiple of a pitch of the electrode segments in the second electrode in a direction in which the electrode segments in the second electrode are periodically arranged.
